Our work placement scheme is ideal for undergraduates who would like an insight into a regional law firm.

We can offer a limited number of places for undergraduates who are looking to find out more about what life is really like in a law firm.

Many undergraduates have questions regarding the work placement scheme.  Please read the following Q&As before you apply.

What skills and experience should I have to be considered for a work placement?

You should be an undergraduate currently studying for a law related degree (although not essential). You should have a keen desire to want to pursue a career in law and continue to take the LPC.

When can I do my work placement?

The majority of placements are in the summer period, however we do consider placements for other times of the year.  Please specify on your application form when you would like to complete your work placement.  If you are successful we will try to accommodate your request.

How long can I spend with WH?

As we have numerous applications for work placements and we can only offer one week placements. 

What can I expect from a work placement?

You will spend each day with a different trainee, allowing you to experience a variety of different practice areas.  If you have a particular interest in an area of law please state this on your application form and we will try to accommodate this.

What are the hours of work for a placement?

Normal office hours will apply to all placements; 9am to 5.30pm, with 1¼ hours for lunch.

When should I apply for a work placement?

You should apply online between January and March each year.  The closing date for applications is 31 March.

How should I apply for a work placement?

We can only accept applications by completion of the on-line application form.

When will I know whether I have been successful in securing a work placement?

We only have a limited number of places available for work placements and therefore we are unable to offer places to everyone who applies.  We usually contact all applicants in April to confirm whether they have been successful.

If I am successful what will happen next?

You will be contacted and given all the information that you will need about your placement and a chance to ask any further questions that you may have.

If I am unsuccessful in securing a work placement for this year can I apply again?

Yes if you are unsuccessful this year you are welcome to try again next year.
