Work experience

If you are currently studyng for your GCSEs or A Levels and feel that a career in law is for you, why not try it out first.

We can offer a limited number of places for pupils (aged between 16 and 18) who are looking to find out more about what life is really like in a law firm.

Many pupils have questions regarding the work experience scheme.  Please read the following Q&As before you apply.

What do I need to be considered for a work experience place?
You need to be aged between 16 and 18 and currently attending a local school or college.  You should have a keen desire to want to pursue a career in law and be studying for subjects that will support this development.

How long can I spend with WH?
We have numerous applications for work experience and therefore we can only offer one week per pupil.

What can I expect from the work experience?
You will get the chance to experience a variety of different practice areas and general office work.  Where possible you will make a contribution in helping with the work within a team.

You will be able to apply online for work experience from January.  The closing date for applications is 31 March.

How should I apply for a work experience place?
We only accept applications by completion of the on-line application form.

How many work experience spaces do you have per year?
We offer 6 pupils work experience places per year, which usually take place in the summer.

Will I share my placement with another pupil?
No, as we like to give pupils as much experience as possible, therefore we usually only take on one pupil at a time.

When will I know whether I have been successful in securing work experience?
We only have limited availability for work experience and therefore we are unable to offer places to everyone who applies.  We usually contact all applicants in April to confirm whether they have been successful.

You will be contacted and given all the information that you will need about your placement and a chance to ask any further questions that you may have.
