Work experience - Wright Hassall

Work experience

We can offer a limited number of places for students (aged between 16 and 18) who are looking to find out more about what life is really like in a law firm.

From our experience with students at school/college we have answered some of the questions that are most frequently asked about our work experience schemes.  Please read the following questions before you apply.

What should I have to be considered for a work experience place?
You need to be aged between 16 and 18 and currently attending a local school or college.  You should have a keen desire to want to pursue a career in law and be studying for subjects that will support this development.

How long can I spend with WH?
We have numerous requests for work experience and therefore we can only offer one week.

What can I expect from a work experience place?
You will get the chance to experience a variety of different practice areas and where possible make a contribution in helping with the work within a team.

When should I apply for a work experience place?

We are no longer accepting applications for 2008.  You will be able to apply for work experience in 2009 from January 2009 onwards.

How should I apply for a work experience place?
We can only accept applications by completion of an on-line application form.

How many work experience placements do you have per year?
We can provide six placements per year.

Will I share my placement with another student?
We have limited places therefore we can only accommodate one student per week.

When will I know whether I have been successful in securing a work experience place?
We only have limited availability for work experience and therefore we are unable to offer places to everyone who applies.  We will be in contact with all applicants to confirm whether they have been successful following the closing date.

What time will I be expected to work?
You will start your day at 9.30am and leave at 5.30pm (although we are flexible on these times).  You will have a lunch break between 12.45 and 2pm.

If I am successful what will happen next?
You will be contacted and given all the information that you will need about your placement and a chance to ask any further questions that you may have.
