GP Negligence
Mrs H of Solihull instructed Wright Hassall after she received poor treatment from her GP following an accident in which she trapped her finger in a car door. Mrs H had attended her GP’s surgery where her finger treated by lancing the finger and packing and bandaging it. During the following week Mrs H’s finger was extremely painful and she experienced considerable swelling in her hand. After further GP visits she was admitted to hospital where she had two operations to remove an infection caused by some gauze left in her finger following the GP’s initial treatment. The GP’s treatment did not reach the standard of treatment that should have given and Mrs H should have been referred to a specialist. Mrs H was unable to perform her household duties and take her children to and from school for three months. Wright Hassall secured an award of £10,500 to compensate Mrs H for her pain and suffering.
