Pelvis and Hip Injuries
If you have sustained an injury to your pelvis or hips you may be entitled to an award. The range of awards is broad to reflect the range of injuries which may be sustained. The following provides an indication as to which award bracket your injury may fall within.
The higher end of this bracket includes extensive pelvic fractures or hip injuries resulting in spondylolisthesis which causes intolerable pain, and substantial residual disabilities. The lower end includes acetabulum fractures which lead to degenerative changes and fractures of the arthritic femur or hip necessitating hip replacement and fractures resulting in a hip replacement which have only been partially successful.
Within this bracket are significant pelvis or hip injuries that have not resulted in a major permanent disability and where future risk will not be great.
This will include hip replacement which have been carried out wholly successfully and cases where hip replacement may be necessary in the foreseeable future.
This includes minor injuries and those injuries which result in minor residual disabilities.
The level of the award will depend on the seriousness of any residual disabilities resulting from your injury, the risk associated with you sustaining future injury or requiring future surgery and the extent of any recovery you are able to make.
