WH Helps Consolis Systems Aquire Geller Business Equipment

Midlands law firm Wright Hassall has acted for retail management software company Consolis Systems in a seven-figure deal to acquire Geller Business Equipment.

Geller is one of the UK’s largest electronic point of sale and cash register distributors for the retail and hospitality industries, and Consolis acquired the firm as part of its overall business strategy.

The London-based firm wants its clients, and Geller’s, to be able to buy hardware and software from one source.

Geller will keep its brand name and all staff at its Middlesex based offices will be retained.

Peter Moore, managing director of Consolis Systems, said: “Geller has been working closely with our subsidiary CES Software for about 12 years.

“It became apparent that there are a lot of synergies between Geller’s hardware innovations and the new software we are developing.

“When the opportunity arose to acquire Geller, it made sense to bring the two companies’ complementary skills together.”

Legal work for the deal was carried out by Wright Hassall’s corporate team, with partner Robert Lee taking the lead.

He said: “There has been a pattern of consolidation in this sector recently, and Consolis identified an opportunity to make an investment which is in line with its business strategy.

“The process was very smooth, helped by the excellent existing relationship between the two companies, and this is very positive news for the retail and hospitality field.”
