Malcolm Hawkesford sells to Connells

Leamington based estate agent Malcolm Hawkesford is used to completing quick sales – but he has broken all records with his biggest ever deal.

Hawkesford has sold four of his south Warwickshire offices to national company Connells, retaining just the Leamington headquarters.

The company will continue its residential sales and rentals operation from the Euston Place office.

All legal aspects of the sale were handled by law firm Wright Hassall which completed the deal in less than three weeks.

Malcolm Hawkesford said: “The approach came as a surprise but Connells were keen to do the deal quickly and that meant that everything had to be completed as soon as was possible.

“It was very involved but in the end everything was done on time and went through without a snag.”

Wright Hassall’s corporate team, led by managing partner Peter Beddoes, handled the transaction.

He said: “There was a tremendous amount of work involved considering the speed of the deal which meant pulling in expertise from across our firm.

“It involved arranging the assignment of leases on two buildings and the sale of two others.

“As well as the corporate aspects of the sale, 33 staff also transferred to Connells.

“We have worked with Malcolm Hawkesford & Company since it was established in 1991, and it has been gratifying to see it grow and we are certain both it – and Connells – will go on to further success in Warwickshire.”

All branches will continue to trade as Malcolm Hawkesford and Company until spring 2007, when the Wellesbourne, Southam, Stratford and Warwick offices will rebrand as Connells.
