Increase in EU Procurement Thresholds

Increase in EU Procurement Thresholds

Due to the weakness of against the Euro, the procurement thresholds¹ have now been increased for the first time in many years.  With effect from 1 January 2010 to 31 December 2012, the thresholds are as follows (and don’t forget, it is the net of VAT contract values that must be assessed against the threshold):

Contracting authorities listed in Schedule 1 of PCR 2006

Supplies £101,323 (€125,000)
Services £101,323² (€124,000)
Works £3,927,260 (€4,845,000)

Contracting authorities NOT listed in Schedule 1 of PCR 2006

Supplies £156,442 (€193,000)
Services £156,442 (€193,000)
Works £3,927,260 (€4,845,000)

¹The values of some contracts may need to be aggregated for the purposes of the thresholds in PCR 2006.

² A threshold of £156,442 would apply for services where the contract being procured is i) related to a certain type of telecommunications services contract (see Category 5 of Part A, Schedule 3 PCR 2006) ii) contracts related to research and development services (see Category B of Part A, Schedule 3 PCR 2006) iii) contracts relating to the services listed in Part B, Schedule 3 PCR 2006 and iv) contracts relating to subsidised services (see regulation 34 PCR 2006).
