A Warwickshire lawyer has raised more than £2,000 for wounded servicemen and women by swimming, running, cycling and rowing over 46 kilometres – on his 60th birthday..
Humphrey Halford, a partner in Wright Hassall’s commercial property team, celebrated the milestone birthday by completing a unique ‘quadrathon’ to raise money for ‘Help for Heroes’.
Wright Hassall voted the organisation the company’s ‘charity of the year’ but it holds extra significance for Humphrey as he served in the army for 23 years.
He said: “In total, from combined online and cash donations we have raised about £2,250 and I’d like to thank all those who have supported this event, including Nuffield Health Fitness & Wellbeing Centre in Warwick.
“I was also pleased that I managed to reach all the targets that I had set beforehand.
“I wanted to do something with a 60 theme while also raising money so I rowed, ran, cycled and swam, each for 60 minutes. I managed to row 12.27km, run 9.05km, cycle 23.25km and swim 1.62km, all in four hours and 45 minutes, so I was quite happy with that.”
Nick Abell, senior partner at Wright Hassall, said: “We are all delighted for Humphrey. This was a fantastic effort and it is exactly the type of thing we were looking for when we selected Help for Heroes as our charity of the year.”
