Naomi hopes to shoot to gold at the Olympics

Staff at a Leamington law firm are backing Beijing Olympian Naomi Folkard to shoot the Great Britain archery team to gold.

Wright Hassall has sponsored the 24-year-old archer for the past nine years after the company responded to a letter from the youngster asking for support.

Currently ranked as the world number 12, Folkard is part of the three-woman GB archery squad and will compete in both individual and team events.

And having finished 11th in the Athens Games four years ago, Leamington-born Folkard could now challenge for a medal.

Peter Beddoes, managing partner of the 200-strong firm, expects the Leamington-born star to shine on the world stage.

“Naomi has been in excellent form going into the Games and everyone here is very excited by the potential she has to bring home a medal.

“We have supported her since her teenage years and to think that she is about to feature in her second Olympics – at the age of 24 – is fantastic. We just hope she can achieve the ultimate dream for any athlete – an Olympic medal.

“She is an extremely pleasant and talented individual and she has shown what hard-work and desire can achieve. We are proud to be associated with her – and we will be cheering her on in Beijing.”

Naomi, a Birmingham University music graduate, lost out to eventual gold medallist Sung Hyun Park of Korea in the Athens Olympics after easing through the opening two rounds.

Wright Hassall also sponsors Lillington’s young table tennis star, Kelly Sibley, who is on the Team GB reserve list.
