The Wright Hassall Regency 10km run is back for its fifth year – and organisers hope to smash the £100,000 fundraising barrier.
The run through Leamington attracted the maximum of 2,000 entries last year, so a further 200 places will be available.
The extra runners should generate in excess of £25,000 for local charities – meaning that the total amount raised since 2004 will surpass £100k.
This event, on Sunday April 5 (9am), will use the same route as last year. Runners begin at Newbold Terrace East and, after passing through Newbold Comyn, head towards Victoria Park before looping back to finish at Mill Gardens.
Russell Hall, from race organiser Leamington Round Table, said: “The event has grown in strength and popularity every year and it’s fantastic that the money generated is set to reach such a high total.
“The run is now a part of Leamington’s calendar and provides a great occasion both for competitive runners and people who just want a bit of a challenge.
“The course goes through some of the town’s most picturesque parts and is always well supported by the public.
“Last year it snowed but we had even more spectators than normal and the weather helped create a great atmosphere for everyone involved.”
Prizes have been introduced this year, with the top three finishers for both men and women taking home £100, £50 and £25 respectively. All finishers will receive a medal, drink, snack and t-shirt.
Jane Senior, a partner at sponsors Wright Hassall, said: “We’re thrilled that the run has become so popular and we’re hoping that this year will be another huge success.
“We will be enrolling many of our staff again and entering a team for the corporate cup – so hopefully we can win the trophy this year!”
Those wishing to enter the run can download an entry form by clicking here or enter online at www.regency10k.co.uk. Forms for sponsorship are also available.
Entry costs £12 for club-affiliated runners or £14 for non-affiliated. All proceeds are donated to local charities.
