Moving travellers on
Wright Hassall – the leading law firm based in Leamington Spa is providing Warwickshire landowners with an edge in the fight against illegal occupation of their land.
The firm, which employs 200 staff, recently moved travellers off land in Warwick and others in Leamington in less than 24 hours and has compiled a quick response kit to help landowners who find their land occupied.
A solicitor in the Property Litigation Unit at Wright Hassall, said a quick response time was vital in affecting a swift removal of travellers.
She said: “There are several ways to approach the plem but whichever is deemed suitable, speed and a quick response time from both the land-owner and their solicitor is vital.
“Our recent experience was a case in point. We were alerted within two hours of travellers moving onto our client’s land which allowed us to move quickly.
“We served a common law notice asking them to move off the site and they were gone by the next morning.
We have a good relationship with the Police and Environmental Officers and are able to advise clients as to the most effective means of achieving possession in each case."
