Organisers of the Wright Hassall 10km Regency Run 2007 are hoping money raised from this year’s event will help to smash through the £50,000 barrier.
The Leamington Round Table believes entrants can hit the target through raising more than £22,000 at the third annual run on Sunday, April 15.
It would bring the total funds generated by the event, which is sponsored by Wright Hassall, to £50,000 with £10,000 donated to local charities in its first year and £18,000 last year.
Places for the run, which takes place around the streets and parks of Leamington, have also been increased by 250 to 1500 after the success of previous years.
Russell Hall, from the Leamington Round Table, said: “Last year we exceeded our initial target of raising £15,000 for local charities and we hope to go further this year.
“Places have been increased again, as the run was oversubscribed last year and it is also a recognised event in the racing calendar with a permit from UK Athletics for the second year.
“The race is suitable for people of all racing abilities and is a great way of taking in the stunning views of Leamington whilst raising money for charity.”
Adventure Activities for All Abilities, which runs outdoor activities for the disabled and Bath Place Community Venture, which helps vulnerable people access information, support and education are the event’s main charities, whilst dozens of others in the local area are also supported.
Jane Senior, of Wright Hassall, said: “We are really delighted to be sponsoring the event for the third year running and are sure that we can break through the £50,000 barrier.
“All entry fees from the event go directly to local charities and runners can also top this up by being sponsored by friends and family.
“We encourage anyone interested in taking part to get their entry in and get training.”
The entry fee is £10, or £8 if club affiliated, and the closing date is April 9. Runners are advised to enter early to avoid disappointment.
