WH serve up triple measure of successful licences.

Licensing legal expert Andrew Potts has served up a triple measure of successful licence applications.

Andrew, who is a partner at Wright Hassall, has recently acquired a liquor licence for a unique development in Hockley Heath.

The famous Old Royal Oak pub on Stratford Road has been converted into a gastro-pub combined with an indoor delicatessen, butchers, off –licence and café.

The vast site has been developed by Holmway Properties, a company based in Coleshill, Warwickshire, and opened in June as ORO.

Andrew was confronted by a rather unusual set of circumstances – half the site falls within the Stratford district and the other half in the Warwick district.

He has also recently obtained a licence for Jimmy Spice’s, a trendy restaurant and bar which opened in May in High Street, Solihull.

The establishment serves an array of dishes from India, Thailand, China and Italy. There is already a successful version of the buffet-eaterie at Regency Wharf in Broad Street, Birmingham.

To complete the triple whammy, Andrew secured the licence for the landmark Radisson SAS Hotel, which recently opened in Birmingham’s 400ft Beetham Tower.

Andrew said that each application presents a different set of challenges which have to be overcome before a venue can operate.

He said: “These latest licence applications have shown the variety of work that we do. I am currently involved in applying for licences for a broad range of eye watering venues both across the region and nationally.

“In particular, the conversion of the Old Royal Oak is a truly innovative complex. I certainly have not seen a scheme like this one before.”
