Wright Hassall has proved to be just the ticket for Rotary International’s 100th Convention being held in Birmingham later this month.
The Midlands-based solicitors gave 15 local volunteers office space for a week, to organise and pack 25,000 tickets pre-purchased for the host events.
The events include the Medieval Spectacular at Warwick Castle, the East Meets West Variety Show at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall, the Treorchy Male Voice Choir at the Birmingham Town Hall and Katherine Jenkins at the NIA.
The last time the Rotary International Convention was hosted in Birmingham was in 1984.
Almost 22,500 people from more than 100 countries attended then – and the 2009 show has already surpassed expectations, with pre-purchased ticket sales for host events reaching the 25,000 mark.
To help make the organisation easier, Wright Hassall partner and vice chair of the organising committee, Robert Lee, offered the volunteers a temporary headquarters.
Robert said: “Previous destinations for the convention have ranged from Las Vegas to Tokyo, but I think Birmingham’s choice of a ‘Victorian Britain’ theme for the House of Friendship at the NEC will provide fantastic entertainment and a tremendous spectacle.
“The Convention is being held at the NEC, and guests will also have chance to see Warwick Castle’s medieval spectacular’ and the ‘Concert of Concerts’ at the NIA with one of the world’s top classical singers, Katherine Jenkins.
“On June 23rd, the city will also greet Rotary with many activities in the city centre, including an international street market, street theatre, late night shopping and much more.
“Wright Hassall was more than happy to provide some space to the volunteers and, as a Rotarian, I must say that they have provided a tremendous service to the convention and we should be very thankful.”
In Great Britain and Ireland there are currently over 55,000 Rotarians attributing to 1.2 million Rotarians worldwide.
The event will run from 21st June to 24th June. For more information, visit www.rotaryconvention2009.com
