Charles is head of the Wills, Trusts and Tax department. He advises on estate tax planning including tax-efficient use of wills and trusts; estate administration and probate; the creation and management of trusts; personal tax and financial affairs; and the formation of charitable trusts. He is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and The Law Society Probate Section.
As a notary public he deals with the authentication of documents for use outside the United Kingdom.
Background
After leaving school, Charles obtained a French Studies diploma from Caen University, France. He graduated with a law degree from Leicester University in 1978 and was admitted as a solicitor in April 1981 following articles with Wragge & Co. He then worked for Lane Clutterbuck & Co, Birmingham, becoming an associate. He joined Wright Hassall in 1985 becoming a partner later that year. He qualified in 1995 under the Solicitors Investment Business Rules allowing him to advise on securities and portfolio management. In 1999 he was admitted as a notary public.
Interests
Charles’ interests include cycling, hill walking and history. He is a trustee of Myton Hamlet Hospice of Warwick.
