Emma deals with all aspects of contentious insolvency.  This includes advising on both personal and corporate insolvency matters such as:

  • Issuing and defending statutory demands, bankruptcy petitions and winding-up petitions
  • Preference claims
  • Transactions at an undervalue claims
  • Breach of directors duties claims, including misfeasance and wrongful trading
  • Advising on both Individual and Creditors voluntary arrangements
  • Injunctions including freezing orders
  • Asset recovery both in the UK and outside the jurisdiction
  • Applications for possession and sale

Emma particularly specialises in dealing with technical contentious personal insolvency matters which include advising on exceptional circumstances, asset recoveries abroad and complex annulments.  Emma is currently acting for a Trustee in Bankruptcy in relation to a freezing order over a bankrupt’s assets currently in the Philippines and recovery of these assets which are outside the jurisdiction.

Background

Emma qualified in 2002. She joined Wright Hassall from Blake Lapthorn in London where she was a member of the insolvency team.

Interests

Emma loves to socialise with friends although this has taken a back seat of late having entered the world of motherhood. Other interests include travelling, sailing and swimming.
