Helen has specialised exclusively in construction and engineering work for over 12 years both in the drafting of contractual documentation and in dealing with disputes.  In contentious matters, Helen has particular experience of international arbitrations and is familiar with the ICC rules and UNCITRAL rules. She has also advised and participated in both domestic and international mediations.

Helen’s practice includes both contentious and non-contentious work and she acts for a wide range of clients including governments, funders, developers, contractors and professionals.  Helen is particularly experienced in multi-party disputes and arbitration and mediation, where she has considerable international experience.

On the non-contentious side, Helen has worked on many of the domestic standard forms of contract as well as a large variety of bespoke and international contracts for both domestic and international clients. She also provides advice on procurement methods and drafting matters including PFI and partnering.

Helen has lectured for the RICS and Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and given talks on topical issues for various sectors of the construction industry both in the UK and Hong Kong.  She has also written on a range of construction issues for the RIBA Journal and Construction Europe.

Background

Helen has over 12 years’ experience, including 6 years in Hong Kong as partner in two international law firms; Hammonds and CMS Cameron McKenna.  In that time Helen has acted for clients in the UK, USA, Africa, Europe, the Gulf States, Australia and many Asian countries including China, Hong Kong, Japan, Philippines, Bangladesh, Korea, Vietnam and Thailand.

Helen enjoys skiing, scuba diving, equestrian and architecture.
