James advises on a wide range of agricultural and rural matters including:
- the sale and purchase of agricultural and rural property by private sale or auction;
- the letting of agricultural and other rural commercial property;
- landlord and tenant matters arising under the Agricultural Holdings Act 1986 and the Agricultural Tenancies Act 1995; including end of tenancy and succession matters; and
- residential landlord and tenant; with particular emphasis upon those regimes of tenancy affording additional protection for agricultural workers.
Background
James studied law at Nottingham Trent University before completing the Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Law School. After then initially working as a paralegal with Wragge and Co (Birmingham) and Morton Fisher (Worcester), James qualified as a solicitor with Morton Fisher (now MFG Solicitors) in 2002. He went on to work within the Agricultural and Rural Affairs department of MFG Solicitors, dealing in both contentious and non-contentious matters, before joining Wright Hassall in June 2007.
Interests
James is a budding campanologist, learning to ring the bells at Worcester Cathedral. While he also enjoys cooking (with local ingredients where possible) and supports the Worcester branch of the Campaign for Real Ale, the majority of James' spare time is dedicated to his young family.
