Laurie specialises in intellectual property and technology.  He has particular expertise in trade marks, branding, advertising, sponsorship, media law and the licensing of all intellectual property right particularly as part of technology transfer arrangements.  Laurie also advises in relation to information law and data protection.

Laurie’s experience includes advising, negotiating and drafting intellectual property licences and product endorsement and sponsorship agreements.  Laurie has also advised on a range of other commercial issues and regularly lectures and presents seminars on intellectual property, data protection and information management.  Technology experience includes software distribution and licence agreements, often with an international element.

He was listed as a Legal Expert in Legal Business 2005; is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a Member of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys, iTechLaw and the Society for Computers and the Law.

Background

Laurie became a barrister in 1985 and was admitted as a solicitor in 1994 while working as in-house counsel for a major food manufacturing company.  After 5 years at Pannone LLP, Laurie joined Wright Hassall in 2001, as Head of the Intellectual Property Group and the Commercial Unit.
