Mitra is a member of the litigation team and specialises in:

Inheritance disputes including:

  • claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975
  • litigation involving the construction of Wills and Trusts
  • disputing Wills where the Deceased lacked the mental capacity to make a Will or was subject to undue influence
  • advising on the removal and/or substitution of Executors of Will

Commercial litigation disputes including:

  • commercial contract disputes including breach of contract and indemnity claims;

Court of Protection matters including:

  • acting for elderley clients and those who require the protection and support of the Court of Protection and the Office of the Public Guardian;
  • acting for the relatives or close friends of patients who do not have mental capacity in making applications for a statutory will and/ or matters relating to property and financial affairs of the patient;
  • making applications to the Court of Protection in relation to personal welfare matters such as the residence of a patient;

Professional negligence matters including:

  • claims relating to and against solicitors, accountants, surveyors, architects, insurance brokers and financial advisers;

Background

Mitra graduated from the University of Kent with LLB (Honours) and did her Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in London. Mitra moved to Warwickshire and completed her training contract with Wright Hassall, qualifying as a solicitor in the litigation team in 2008.  Mitra has completed her Higher Rights training and undertakes advocacy work in the Court or Protection which has the same powers and privileges in relation to mental capacity matters as the High Court.  

Interests

In her spare time, Mitra enjoys salsa dancing, cycling, spending time with family and friends and is a keen traveller, having travelled extensively as a student.
