Neil Edginton, Director, The Cube
Originally graduating in Town Planning, Neil saw his route into property though surveying. After securing his first job with surveying firm Silk & Fraizer (now Faithful+Gould, part of the WS Atkins group of companies) Neil returned to university each evening to read a second degree in Quantity Surveying. Whilst still at Silk & Fraizer, Neil also completed a Masters degree in Project Management.
In 2000, he was approached to move ‘client side’ and work in house for Birmingham Mailbox Ltd in 2000. By 2003 he had been appointed to the board of directors. Neil then went on to work on Fort Dunlop, the company’s joint venture project with Urban Splash. Another city landmark, but this time one which had been empty for more than 20 years. In 2004 he was a founder director and shareholder of Birmingham Development Company and in 2007 he set up and led BuildAbility, the construction company which has completed the £86m build for The Cube, at its peak employing in excess of 500 people. In 2010, Neil set up his new venture, edg property which is currently active in Birmingham, the wider West Midlands and East Anglia.
In addition, Neil is a guest speaker for Birmingham City University, a guest speaker for WMCCE and has been recognised in the Insider ‘42 under 42’ the Property Week ‘Hot 50’ and ‘Who’s who in Britain’ twice over.
