6. What is the 'modified' procedure?

The 'modified' procedure applies in the (very limited) type of dismissal that involves serious gross misconduct. In place of the standard three stages, the 'modified' procedure involves only two:
  1. you as employer must write to the dismissed employee, giving the grounds for the dismissal, and the reasons for thinking the employee was guilty; and
  2. you must arrange for him (or her) to appeal, if he wants to do so.
