Whatever terms have been agreed before the contract comes into existence (see question one) apply to the contract. For sales to individual consumers, various 'statutory rights' also apply (see question six). And any contract will also have a number of implied terms (see questions six and seven).
The terms of the contract govern what the seller and buyer are obliged to do. If one of them fails to perform his part of the contract, the other can take legal action.
