16. As a purchaser, what terms might I want to include in the contract?

Like the seller, you will want the terms to clarify the main issues: for example, how long the credit period is.

Your main concern is often to ensure that the right products are delivered, on time and in good condition. It may be that receiving only part of the order is no use to you, in which case you would want to reserve the right to reject the entire delivery unless it is complete and in good condition. You might also want the right to reject deliveries that do not arrive on time.

It may be impractical for you to inspect goods when they are delivered, or even at all. If so, you might want to negotiate the right to return goods at a later date if, for example, your own customers complain that the goods are faulty.

Where failed deliveries have a significant impact on you (for example, if you would have to stop production) you may want to negotiate suitable penalty clauses to compensate you for the loss.
