6. Do we have to go through a redundancy procedure if we can offer alternative employment at a site 20 miles away?

Yes. Some people might be happy to take up the offer, but for others it will either mean moving, or a considerable increase in travelling time. An Employment Tribunal would be unlikely to consider this an offer of 'suitable' alternative employment, although much will depend on individual circumstances. (See question 19.)
