A company secretary is not automatically a director, though there is nothing to stop them from being appointed as a director as well.
Unless a company secretary is also appointed as a director, they do not have the powers of a director. They are, however, an 'officer' of the company. This means that they share the legal responsibilities for administrative tasks such as filing at Companies House and maintaining registers and minutes (see questions 9 and 11), with the directors.
