You will usually want to receive the same sort of information as you do within your own company: management accounts, copies of board briefings, minutes of board meetings, and so on.
If you (or one of your colleagues) are a director of the joint venture company, you would normally have easy access to the information you require. In any case, your rights to information should be specified in the shareholders' agreement.
