How we can help you

We have listed below some of the more typical situations that concern our clients. However, our experienced team can give you advice on many other aspects of employment law so do not hesitate to contact us with your query.

We also have a large section of employment related Frequently Asked Questions (faqs) in our Legal Resources section.

Unfair dismissal

Have you been dismissed or made redundant?  Do you think that you have been treated unfairly?

You will usually need to have completed 1 year's service before you can bring a claim - although there are certain exceptions to this.  Contact us immediately - there are strict time limits for bringing claims.

Discrimination

Do you think you have been discriminated against?  Did you know that the scope of anti-discrimination law has widened considerably?

Discrimination legislation now covers sex, race, disability, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.  Since 1 October 2006, age discrimination has been added.  If you think you have been discriminated against, contact our team for advice.

Severance and Termination Compromise Agreements

Are you in the process of negotiating a severance package with your employer?

The terms agreed will need to be reflected within an agreement drafted by your employer, who has to ensure that you have taken legal advice upon it.  Your employer will usually contribute towards your legal fees incurred in relation to the agreement.  Our team is experienced in advising employees on these agreements - particularly for senior managers and directors.

Employment contracts

You are entitled to a contract within 2 months of starting work and have the right to request this from your employer.  Even if you have no contract, you may be bound by implied terms.  If you leave your employment you may need advice on any restrictions on your activities after leaving.

Contact us for advice before you sign any contract. or for advice about leaving your employment and the effect of your contract after you have left.
