Types of personal injury claim

Road Traffic Accidents

We deal with all manner of claims arising from Road Traffic Accidents and act on behalf of drivers, passengers, pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists to name just a few.  If you have been injured in a Road Traffic Accident which was someone else's fault then we may be able to help.

Occasionally we act on behalf of clients who have been involved in Road Traffic Accidents where it turns out that the driver who caused the accident is not insured.  Fortunately that does not prevent a claim being made, as an organisation called the Motor Insurers Bureau exists to compensate the innocent victims of negligent drivers who were uninsured, so even if you think that the driver who caused the accident may be uninsured we may still be able to help.  The Motor Insurers Bureau also operate a scheme to compensate the innocent victims of drivers who cannot be traced so even if you have been the victim of a hit and run accident we may be able to help.

Accidents at work

All employers have a duty to take reasonable steps to ensure that employees are reasonably safe whilst at work so if you have been involved in an accident at work you may be able to make a claim.  As well as being under a duty to take reasonable steps to ensure that employees are reasonably safe at work employers also have duties under six sets of safety regulations and the breach of some of the regulations make the employer liable for an accident even if they have taken reasonable steps to ensure the safety of their employees.

As well as claims arising from accidents we also deal with injuries which occur over a long period of time rather than as a result of one specific accident.  For example we have clients who have sustained hearing damage due to long term noise exposure, clients who have sustained respiratory damage due to exposure to dangerous chemicals and clients who have developed wrist problems due to excessive keyboard work.

If you have sustained any kind of injury as a result of your work, whether because of an accident or because of the system of work over a longer period then we may be able to help.

Accidents in public places

This could be an accident  in the street, in a shop, a garage, a hospital – in fact anywhere to which the public have access.

The most common type of accident is a slip or trip in the street.  Local Authorities have a duty under the Highways Act 1980 to carry out periodic inspections to roads and footpaths to check for safety defects and if someone sustains an injury because the local authority have not complied with their duties then a claim may be possible.

Accidents in other public places are subject to different rules and if you have been injured in an accident in any public place we will be pleased to advise.

Injuries arising from violent crime

The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority is a Government funded body which exists to compensate the innocent victims of violent crime so if you are unfortunate enough to be assaulted we may be able to assist you with a claim to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority.

Accidents abroad

More and more people are travelling abroad and unfortunately some of them are injured whilst in foreign countries. We have a number of such clients and are experienced in pursuing claims in foreign legal jurisdictions – enlisting the assistance of local lawyers if necessary.

All personal injury claims are subject to time limits and if the relevant time limit is missed it can be very difficult, if not impossible, to pursue a claim so if you have sustained an injury it is advisable to seek legal advice as soon as possible.
