Which service is best for you?
We offer two separate will drafting services: a standard will drafting service for simple straighforward wills, and a non-standard drafting service which is customised to take account of more complex circumstances.
Standard will drafting service
This service is appropriate for a will for a single person and 'mirror image' wills for married or cohabiting couples. These wills will, usually, only include the following provisions:
burial/cremation wishes
appointment of executors
appointment of guardians for minor children
simple gifts of cash (legacies)
simple gifts of your personal chattels (specific bequests)
absolute gift of the remainder of your estate (your Residuary Estate) to a spouse or partner; with a substitutional gift to children or grandchildren or to such other persons in such proportions as you specify, in the event of the spouse or partner predeceasing you.
We charge a set fee for preparing a will under the standard will drafting service. Please contact us for details.
Non-standard will drafting service
It is possible that your estate will be subject to Inheritance Tax on your death and that the amount of tax charged would depend on the nature of the provisions contained in your will. For this reason advice on Inheritance Tax is commonly a feature of a comprehensive will drafting service unless expressly excluded. We can advise you as to the likely Inheritance Tax consequences of the provisions which you have asked us to include in your will on the basis of the information you should have given to us. We will provide this advice as part of our non-standard will drafting service.
For our Non-Standard Will Drafting Service, fees are charged on an hourly rate. If you require tax planning or your will is unusually complicated, we will advise you before you proceed and provide you with an estimate of the number of hours needed to draft and give proper advice regarding your will.
