VAT Consultant
Description
We are recruiting a VAT consultant to join a highly progressive law firm in the specialised Tax department. Whether full- or part-time, this is a permanent position. The role will focus on VAT and will advise listed and private companies as to how they can manage their VAT risk.
The VAT offering assists professional firms and their clients with issues which are unusual, expensive, new or disputed and therefore sees highly interesting conundrums, both technically and generally.
Having a national reputation for excellence, the VAT offering is looking to expand its market through building relationships, publishing articles, maintaining a social media presence and speaking at events. It is an exciting time and the new recruit will support this process.
Person specification
- Technically accurate and capable VAT adviser who can assist in complex client work
- Professionally qualified such as CTA, ACA, ACCA, etc; or suitably-experienced ex-HMRC
- Some post qualification experience
- Some experience of Business Development
- Ability to work as part of a team
Job responsibilities
- Responsible for a wide variation of client-facing VAT consultancy work
- Manage a portfolio of complex advisory cases (e.g. property, cross-border supplies, financial services, Tribunal appeals and more)
- Develop client cases from enquiry to final advice, including discussion with VAT partner
- Provide proactive advice to assist clients
- Support business development
- Maintain an accurate technical knowledge of VAT and HMRC’s challenges in relation to the same
