Damages for owners of a development site

We advised the owners of a development site who discovered that a water main went through the property that they had just bought.

Their solicitors had failed to point this out to them before they agreed to buy the site, even though it had been noted on a standard search that those very solicitors had obtained during the course of the conveyancing work.

We were able to obtain substantial damages for our clients to cover the cost of moving the pipe to a part of the site that did not hinder their development plans, as well as the costs of the delay in their project, plus their legal costs.
