Rachael deals with the administration of individuals' estates acting on behalf of private executors or Wright Hassall as executor, or on behalf of administrators for intestate estates.
From initial contact with the executor, reviewing the Will, ascertaining assets and liabilities, calculating the inheritance tax position and completing HMRC papers, to submitting probate papers to court to ascertain the Grant of Representation. Once the Grant has been received, she deals with the collection of assets, paying liabilities and any taxes due before producing estate accounts for approval before making distributions to the beneficiaries.
Rachael can also advise on deeds of variation if beneficiaries wish to alter the direction of bequests under the estate. She also has considerable experience of advising charity trustees.
Rachael acted in three separate administrations for one family over a period of 8 years, as family confident in level of service and attention provided.
She obtained probate for a handwritten will with attestation problems through discussions and evidence provided to probate court , resulting in estate passing to long standing family friend in accordance with deceased’s wishes rather than potentially passing to bona vacantia as no known family.
I would like to say a big thank you to both Rachael Kell and Julie Bell for their excellent service on two different matters.
Rachael spent over 20 years working for a NatWest/RBS in various probate, trust and investment related roles, the last 14 years managing a probate team undertaking administration of estates where the Bank was appointed as Executor. She joined Wright Hassall in January 2015 and was promoted to Associate in 2018.
