Anita Paul

Paralegal

Anita deals with landlord and tenant disputes, both for social and private landlords.

"Wright Hassall’s entire disrepair team including their juniors have a great work ethic and are excellent in their abilities"

Leon Storer, Stonewater Housing

Experience

Anita also advises on private landlord and tenant disputes including service of S21 and S8 notices and bringing possession proceedings for rent arrears and other breaches. Anita has recently expanded into boundary disputes working under the supervision of her manager.

Anita also runs a process for Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustee Act 1996 (TOLATA) claims which arise usually where one of two or more joint owners of property (who are not married) wishes to sell the property and realise their interest and the other party or parties is resisting. This may result in an order for sale application. However, Anita always seeks to settle without resorting to litigation where possible and will draft bespoke settlement agreements.

Social landlords are currently seeing an increased volume in disrepair claims against them. Acting for several housing associations, Anita has successfully defended and settled a number of disrepair claims.  She is adept at analysing call and repair logs and determining whether or not there is a case to answer. Where there may be, she is a skilled negotiator, reaching swift settlement and so avoiding the need for costly litigation in the majority of cases.

"The team at Wright Hassall is conscientious and devoted to achieving the best possible outcome for its clients"
