About Maya
Maya's specialism is dealing with a variety of inheritance disputes relating to validity of Wills, potential claims against the estate including claims under Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, proprietary estoppel and removal of executors under section 116 of the Senior Courts Act.
“Maya took the time to carefully review our case when I didn’t think we had much hope and recommended proceeding. She was clear throughout the process and eventually managed to get a settlement that we were happy with.”
Experience
Maya has experience in dealing with contentious matters at various stages including pre-action, mediation and within proceedings. She has dealt with various matters including:
- Obtaining a satisfactory settlement (to include lifetime housing needs) for an adult child of the deceased who’s numerous Wills were rendered invalid due to lack of mental capacity.
- Successfully protecting a large estate against a claim under proprietary estoppel which could have dramatically reduced the size of the estate.
- Successfully assisting a family member to contest an application made by the OPG to the Court of protection to replace the original deputy without appreciation that other family members were competent to take on this role.
- Contentious application to remove appointed attorney and setting a side the trust, enabling the client to take control of her assets.
