Sarah Hood

Probate Executive

Sarah is a Probate Executive providing direct support to the Probate Manager. Sarah also provides a variety of support to other members of the Probate Team dealing with matters relating to the administration of an individual’s estate.

About Sarah

Sarah has worked at Wright Hassall since 1994 during which she has amassed a wealth of knowledge supporting on all aspects of probate and estate administration   During the last 20 years she has  assisted executors and families, helping to guide them through the administration of an estate at difficult and stressful times in both a supportive and compassionate way.

Following the initial contact with the client, Sarah is able to identify any assets and liabilities, complete the appropriate HMRC forms and probate papers to obtain a Grant of Representation.  Once the Grant, of Representation has been issued Sarah will collect the funds, pay the liabilities, taxes and legacies, prepare the estate accounts and distribute the estate to the beneficiaries.

Where the person who has died had no close family or for whom Wright Hassall are appointed as the Executors, Sarah has experience in registering the death, arranging the funeral and notifying friends and intermediaries.

Sarah can also deal with various property issues within an estate on behalf of the executors, such as arranging the clearance and cleaning of a property, organising for estate agents and utility providers to visit as required, arranging weekly insurance security check visits and liaising with insurance companies in respect of ongoing or new claims.

"Thank you for the professional, courteous and timely manner in which you have dealt with this potentially complicated and difficult matter."

A satisfied client

  • Acted for an executor, who lived in New Zealand, to obtain a Grant of Probate and to deal with the assets n respect of his mother who had died in the UK. Estate administration was completed via email so that he could sign and swear the probate papers upon his return for the funeral.  The application for the Grant of Probate was issued and received  within four days which enabled him to dispose of her assets and still return to New Zealand as planned.
  • Acted for executors who did not live locally to the deceased.  Provided a complete service which included dealing with all aspects of probate and obtaining details of the financial assets. In order to make the deceased's property ready for sale on behalf of the executor, we arranged the cleaning of the property, organised a gardener, coordinated the valuation, cleared/ sold personal chattels and instructed & liaised with an estate agent.

"The quality of advice from Wright Hassall has been exceptional"
