Our local community

Commitment to the local region

Our 174 year heritage means that we understand local business and their issues.  We see the success of our business as being parallel to the success and development of the region.  We take an active part in supporting the region and are proactive in our support of its growth and wellbeing.  For example, Nick Abel, our Chairman, is Vice President of the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP), 32 members of our team sit on a total of 50 Boards of companies and charities across the region, we are the legal partners for the Wasps rugby, Wasps netball team and the Ricoh arena.  We are also members of the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber, a club member of Coventry UK City of Culture 2021 and active members of Coventry & Warwickshire Champions and Coventry First.

In addition we provide support, through sponsorship, a number of clubs and societies throughout the region, for example: the Side by Side Theatre; Leamington RFC; Stratford cricket club; Coventry Cosairs; Old Leamingtonians RFC; and have, for the last 16 years, been the prime sponsor of the Wright Hassall Leamington Recency 10k run.

2019 Charity Shop Challenge

Employees at Leamington Spa-based law firm Wright Hassall tested their selling skills in a fundraising effort which will see 20 teams take over the running of Myton Hospice charity shops in Coventry and Warwickshire for the day.

The teams of five will be tasked with bringing as much revenue into the shops as possible as part of the four-month long voluntary initiative, going head-to-head to see which team can raise the most for the charity.

Our Charitable Trust

The Wright Hassall Charitable Trust was established with the aim of supporting local charities.

As one of the largest law firms in the Midlands we are conscious of our responsibilities not only to our team but also to the wider community of which we are very much part. Thanks to this position we are uniquely placed to offer help to local charities that may not get the same type of exposure as the larger national and international charities.

We raise funds by holding various sponsored activities and events throughout the year so this is an initiative that has the full support of our employees.

Our regular fundraising events include:-

  • The annual Wright Hassall quiz
  • Raffles at our annual winter and summer parties
  • Dress down days

We encourage our employees to propose grants to charities that they are involved with personally, either as volunteers or through circumstance.

Legal partners with Coventry Wasps
