Gemma Clark

Associate

Gemma advises on a variety of contentious and non-contentious employment law issues, both for employers and employees.

“Many thanks for the help and support that you have given us with our HR problems, I think we got the outcomes correct on both occasions and we have not had any comeback from either which is testimony to the professional way in which they were handled”

Experience

  • Assisted a large business reach settlement in respect of a Tribunal claim regarding furlough payment, which could have potentially opened a floodgate to further claims.
  • Navigating employers and employees throughout the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.
  • Acted for a business in advising on a redundancy process and the risks involved, leading to successful settlement discussions being undertaken with the employees to mitigate such risks.

Career

After being accepted to study law at St Aidan’s College at Durham University, Gemma undertook a three-year degree and then moved on to complete her Legal Practice Course at Sheffield University Law School.

During her second year of university, she obtained a training contract with Wright Hassall, completing her training to qualify as a solicitor in September 2021.

Interests

Outside of work, Gemma enjoys socialising with friends and family and engaging in a variety of activities, including a number of sports, escape rooms or a tricky puzzle when the weather isn’t quite so good!
